How to view scans

Too small to read in the book? Scan and see it in high resolution.

Three steps to a high-resolution view

  1. Find the QR code

Each plate carries a QR code below it or at its lower-left corner, on the same line as the caption.

  2. Scan it with your phone

Open WeChat’s “Scan” or your system camera and point it at the code.

  3. View and zoom

Pinch to zoom, double-tap to zoom, drag to inspect details. Long-press an image to save it to your album.

Why one code per plate

Plates are open only to readers of the book, so each plate carries its own QR code pointing to its own page — scan one plate, see that plate. No page ever lists the volume’s images.

Frequently asked questions

The code will not scan. What now?
The code may be worn or catching the light. Adjust the angle, or try another phone. If the code is damaged, contact the Bookhouse and we will help.
The page will not open, or images are slow.
Your connection may be weak; wait a moment or switch networks.
Can I download the originals?
Every viewer page has a “Download this plate” button, which saves the original file for that plate.
The link stopped working after being forwarded.
Please contact the Bookhouse for an update. Printed QR codes are never changed; if the book has been revised, use the latest edition.
Are these images available anywhere else on the site?
No. Each page address is built from a random token that cannot be guessed, and it is kept out of search engines. Only scanning the code in the book opens it.
